Bill Gillispie, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Merchandising

Bill Gillispie, Jr. joined the Save-A-Lot team in 2008 as Senior Vice President. As a leader in the company, Bill encourages his team to maintain a focus on the consumer to ensure Save-A-Lot provides its customers with an overall shopping experience that exceeds their expectations. His responsibilities include managing the company’s Brand Strategy, Merchandising, Consumer Segments and Sourcing.

Prior to joining Save-A-Lot, Bill held various positions within parent company SUPERVALU. With more than 20 years in the grocery retail industry, Bill has extensive experience at Jewel Foods, Cub Foods, Scotts Food and SUPERVALU, most recently holding the position of Corporate Vice President of Grocery, Dairy and Frozen Food at SUPERVALU’s home office.

Bill earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Marketing from Illinois State University and his Master’s in Business Administration from St. Xavier University in Chicago, IL where he was recognized for Outstanding Academic Achievement.

Bill is an activist within the Multiple Sclerosis Community and has raised over $1 million dollars with “Team Gillispie.” He is an influential leader in the community, very active with fundraising, volunteering, mentoring within the organization and is afflicated with MS himself. While serving on the Greater Illinois Chapter board, he received the Pioneer Spirit Award and won the “Top MS Walk Fund Raising Team Award” in 2003 (MN) and 2004-2007 (IL) and is currently one of the top walk teams in MN and IL for 2009 and 2010. Bill will be inducted into the MS Society’s 2009 Volunteer Hall of Fame for his extraordinary efforts on fundraising. Bill joined the National Board in 2008 and currently serves on the Chapter Relations Committee, Research Programs Committee and the First Forward Campaign Cabinet. Bill resides in St. Louis, Missouri.
