Aurora, CO – November 30, 2009 Save-A-Lot food stores, the nation’s leading extreme-value grocery chain is opening a new store in Aurora as part of its continuing commitment to bring great food, great prices and great people to the region. Across the nation foreclosures, job losses and requests for emergency food continue to reach record levels. Between December 2 and December 15 Save-A-Lot Food Stores will do its part to help alleviate the pressure by providing free spaghetti dinners at the new 15220 E. 6th Street Save-A-Lot location 5,000 residents will be mailed a meal voucher to redeem at the new Save-A-Lot food store location. The meal voucher will provide all the ingredients necessary to prepare a hot spaghetti dinner. In addition, Save-A-Lot will make a matching 5,000 meal contribution to local Aurora community partners. “At its core, Save-A-Lot Food Stores is committed to helping families, and today that includes surviving this economic crisis,” said John Leevers, store owner. “With this Free Spaghetti Meal Give Away, we hope to acknowledge residents’ struggles, and also want to call attention to the fact that this is a group effort; we are only a piece of the overall solution. Save-A-Lot believes we have the recipe for thriving in today’s economy.” The new store employs 50 associates and will be open seven days a week and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. Free spaghetti dinners may be redeemed with vouchers mailed to 5,000 local residents. In addition, the store will be handing out free spaghetti dinners to the first 500 customers on the morning of Saturday, December 5 as part of the Grand opening celebration. Leevers and his Save-A-Lot staff will then distribute 5,000 meals to the Food Bank of the Rockies, the Salvation Army, the Arapahoe County Social Services and other community partners surrounding the Save-A-Lot store location. There is no purchase necessary to redeem the meal voucher.
