Vice President, Regional Retail Operations
John Likens joined Save-A-Lot in 2000 and today is Vice President Retail Operations responsible for Save-A-Lot stores located in the southeastern United States. In his role, he manages sales and profits in corporate stores as well as execution, new store growth, site selection and sales for the company’s licensed stores.
John began his career at Save-A-Lot when he was named Director of Perishables Distribution and then promoted to Director of Distribution where his responsibilities included overseeing the company's network of 15 distribution centers. In 2003, he was promoted to Vice President, Distribution with responsibility for all distribution and transportation operations. In 2005, John was named Vice President Licensed Retail Operations and soon developed into his current Vice President role.
Prior to joining Save-A-Lot, John worked for nine years at parent company SUPERVALU INC. as Vice President of Merchandising, General Manager for the Greenville and Ohio Valley divisions and as Regional Vice President of Logistics for the company's Central Region. Before joining SUPERVALU, John gained extensive buying and merchandising experience with Scrivner and Wetterau.
John attended Southeast Missouri State University and has completed the Advanced Executive Program at Northwestern University. He has also completed programs at Wharton Business School on strategic management and leading organizational change. John, his wife and three children, reside in Columbia, IL.
