Bluit - Fruit Smoothies

It has a funny name, but that’s not the only reason this “blended fruit” smoothie recipe will make you smile. One of our favorite healthy recipes for kids, Bluit and other fruit smoothies are delicious and easy, too! Healthy recipes for kids don’t have to be complicated. Involving your kids in meal preparation and sharing time together in the kitchen are great ways to encourage healthy eating habits. Fruit smoothies like this one — or any smoothie recipe — are fun to make and full of nutrition!



1. Mix all ingredients into blender and blend well. Enjoy!

This smoothie recipe is easy to customize. To create fruit smoothies just the way you like them, use any fruit of your choice.


My 5-year-old son WILL NOT eat anything but chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese. I had to think quickly to come up with healthy recipes for kids, as I knew he would not get the nutrition he so desperately needed. As I stood in the Save-A-Lot produce department with the beautiful variety of fruits and veggies, I thought of the dusty blender I never use, and asked each of my 10 kids (I had all of them with me) to choose a fruit. When asked why, I said, "You will see." They each blended their own fruits to make one huge, fruity shake. I admired the expression on my 5-year-old’s face as each kid took their turn drinking a bit. I watched it turn from curious to wanting. I’ve learned that children at that age tend to do what other children do. Since this day, my son and I have sampled some of the fresh veggies and fruits Save-A-Lot has to offer. He pulls his toy jeep around in our back yard to me standing in an apron with a top hat saying "Welcome to the shake shop — what can I blend you today?" He will ask for some of the strangest combinations for his fruit smoothies, and Save-A-Lot is dependable enough to always have them all, so I can keep my fridge drawers full of exotic fruits and veggies!

Delightful tasty recipe! Just what the doctor ordered. In January, I was exposed to the stomach flu that caused my gastric system to shut down. After spending 4 -5 days in the hospital getting rehydrated, the vomiting continued after every meal. Finally a diagnosis after a 25 pound weight loss and several ER visits for more IV fluids. I have Gastroparesis. Remedy to introduce food back into the system, blend your food, make fruit smoothies with a protein boost. Thanks for sharing! I am able to replace some much needed fiber and antoxidants with my favorite fruits and try a little pureed carrrots as well.

Very tasty, but I SO have to agree with rinoa. You are the adult. You feed the child the food you want him to eat. If he doesn't eat it, then he goes hungry for that meal. By the next meal, he'll decide he's hungry and will eat what you put in front of him if you don't turn around and give in to his demands. It's up to you to let the child know what is expected of him. You are supposed to be his parent. It's irrelevant if he's mad at you because you won't give in to his demands. Certainly, this recipe is a healthy food. However, he cannot live on it alone either or in conjunction only with chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese.

"My five year old son WILL NOT eat anything but chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese"....Great way t get him to eat healthy after that,...But another way to get him to not eat just nuggets and mac/cheese: Realize that you are the one that prepares/buys the food. Stop giving it, he will eventually realize he is a child and you are the adult
