Brown the beef and drain any excess grease. Put in a 9x13 baking pan or casserole dish. Add remaining ingredients and just cover with water. Cover with foil and bake at 350ºF for about 30 minutes or until rice is thoroughly cooked. Remove foil during last 15 minutes to allow the beef chop suey to thicken.
This chop suey recipe is customizable, too. If you’d like to add egg to your beef chopped suey, fry one or two while the dish is baking, then break up the cooked egg and stir it in. Even though this is a recipe with ground beef, it’s also easy to turn this beef chop suey into a vegetarian dish. Simply leave out the beef and substitute your favorite vegetables (try mushrooms, carrots and bell peppers) to create a chop suey recipe that’s all your own.
